Following a day watching the tennis on a hill and getting ridiculously sunburned (now I definitely look like a true Brit abroad!) comes Australia Day. Here’s a few snaps from the tennis

Controversial to many in the country being that the day ultimately celebrates Australia’s colonisation of the Aborigines, there were massive demonstrations in the centre with road closures and cancelled tram journeys. However this didn’t stop the party! We headed over to St Kildas and found a nice spot by the beach on some grass. The area was full of backpackers and Aussie families enjoying the day in th sun. We spent a few hours there drinking the classic goon, then headed to a BBQ in a bar called the Secret Garden (not worth the entry fee for a free sausage haha) and then headed to a pub. It’s true that anywhere you go you’ll always meet a Yorkshireman, that’s exactly what happened!

On the whole the day was totally dreamy I felt in my element with my hippie trousers and tassels on!

Possibly the kindest girls I’ve met

These girls I met in my hostel have become amazing friends, planning a trip along the great ocean road for the next week, will keep you updated!

Xoxo, Frey 😜
